You had your two month check-up last week as well as your first vaccines. You are now 10 lbs 6 oz and 22 inches long, that is a weight gain of 2 lbs and growth of 2 inches since you were born! You are doing so well! (I think it is due to the donated breast milk that we have been blessed with the past 2 months.) Your vaccines were painful and mama did not have any Tylenol to give you after to ease the pain. We sat on the couch with cold compresses on your legs for the better part of that day. I felt so bad for you! You cried every time one of your little legs moved, even if it happened in your sleep. You made it through though and were back to your normal, smiley self a few days later.
You are an early riser, you want to be up and out of bed by 6:30, even though you fall asleep 30 minutes later, and if daddy and I are not out of bed soon enough you start getting really vocal! You do not sleep through the night yet, but I love waking to feed and cuddle you! Each morning, you have a bottle while I drink coffee and whenever I look down at you, you have the biggest, sweetest smile on your face as you look back up at me. Those precious, early morning smiles, melt my heart and make me tear up every time.
We have discovered that you like almost constant motion and you get angry when I sit with you for too long. You love tummy and story time and started rolling over at just 3 weeks old! I recently found out that you like when I sing "head and shoulder, knees and toes," you smile and laugh when I do. Daddy also discovered that you like Danzig and Led Zeppelin, strange choices of music for an infant, but whatever keeps you happy... We also thought we heard you say "hello" one day. We both heard it and were shocked! It was probably just a combination of sounds that you made and you did not actually speak, but it sure sounded like you did!
I can't remember the last time I got to sit down to eat for an entire meal, nor can I recall when I last got a chance to sit down to watch a movie. Constant motion, that is what keeps Emma Love happy. I think that is because you are so curious and like to be able to look at as much stuff as possible. I have a feeling that you will be a mover and get in to everything when you are mobile, daddy and I will have to watch you constantly! We took you an your first hike this week, you loved it! I think you will love being outside, which is good 'cause daddy loves being outside too!
I am so excited to see what new things you discover and do in the months ahead. Daddy and mommy love you more than you will ever know, sweet one! I pray you always keep your sweet, sunny disposition and always love to move and dance. You are our sunshine! Happy Two Months, Miss Emma!
